Mendieta’s work is quiet and mystical, yet visceral, referencing violence and exile. To express the themes of her work, I organized her work by element and alternated between sharp and softlly naturalistic typography. Each image is its own island, surrounded by blocks of type whose rags mimic the edges of landforms.
